Latest Frankston moves

A few tweaks
There's been a few changes at Frankston Library.
  • Teenage fiction has moved closer to Playne Street, near to the Wii games room.
  • The teenage graphic novels are shelved together next to the Wii games room.
  • The paperbacks are now in new stands that are located immediately behind the catalogues.
  • The last few bays of the adult fiction have moved to where the teenage fiction was.
  • The adult graphic novels are now together at the end of the adult fiction, past the Zs, tucked up snugly next to the end of the Long Room.
It's hoped that these changes will help to make the books easier to find and the areas more discreet. If you can't find your way around, though, please ask.

Round 14 update

Most improved

Despite being the most improved team of 2011, only one of the Blogalogue's tipsters picked the West Coast Eagles to beat the Blues at the weekend. That was Scott_Info, who was rewarded for his clarity of vision with the only 8 of the round.

harps still leads MandyH at the top of the ladder on margin, both with 85 wins. Bottle has moved up to third spot and is 1 win behind the leaders. After that, it's a raffle, with 12 players between 83 and 80 wins each.

Round 13 round up

The quiet achievers

Where did most Blogalogue tipsters go wrong in round 13? They didn't pick North Melbourne to beat Essendon. Whilst Hirdy's Bombers have got all the hype and drama, North has been quietly on a roll and has now won their last 3 matches.

Those who tipped North's victory along with 7 other winners this weekend were astromouse, bluboy9, muddy60, harps and bluesgal. As MandyH and google only picked 6 winners, harps has jumped to top spot. He leads MadnyH on margin, both with 76 correct tips. So that we don't have the spectacle of harps giving himself the winner's prize, others must try harder!

Addictive reading

Are romance novels killing romance?

Reading can be a habit, but can it be bad for you when read romance novels?

According to self-help and fiction author Shaunti Feldhahn, women can become addicted to romance novels and find real-life relationships dissatisfying as a result. Psychologist Deepti Makhija is concerned that romance novels create an unrealistic fantasy that the “relationship must be perfect." "Christian psychologist" Julie Slatterly agrees, adding that romance novels are to women what visual smut is to men.

What do you think? Is romantic fiction dangerous? Are romance novels creating a new generation of single women who prefer reading about relationships to the real thing? Please feel free to leave a comment on our blog, Twitter or Facebook page.

Round 12 round up

The half way mark

I'm sorry that we didn't get a round 11 round up published last week. DogBear had been commissioned to do the job, but he kept missing his deadlines for some reason. Well done to Mollyfud for picking 8 winners!

In terms of rounds, we are now half way through the season. MandyH has been in front most of the year and maintains this by the smallest margin over google. As for tipping the perfect round, 12 of the blogalogue's 40 tipsters got 8 in round 12! It's got predictable! To those who did ace it, if you are so inclined (and I'm not), don't forget to log in this week to claim your burger voucher.

New teenage area.

Now operational...

After much debate and back-breaking labour the new teenage area has been completed. Now located in the Wii corner at the Playne Street end of the building, it features a new open layout, less barcodes on the walls and better access to the Wii room.

Feel free to give us your feedback about new furnishings for the space or any further changes to make it a more teen-friendly place.
