Picture the beach

Beachwatch

January is usually great beach weather in Frankston City. To remind you of what that's like, here's several photos from yesteryear that feature people enjoying the beach lifestyle of Seaford and Frankston.

The beach is woven into the fabric of Frankston City. Over the years, it's been a place to fish and to frolic. Ours is a bayside City, with two life saving clubs, roads named after prominent fishing families like the Klauers and the McCombs (Ted McComb pictured) and, of course, Beach Street.
You can see these and other local historical photos in our Flickr Picture Frankston Group.

January catch up

Library goss
We're back, fully loaded and ready for our first full week of service in 2011. Here's the latest Library news:
  • The Coffee Cart is open again at Frankston for nibbles, ice creams and hot and cold drinks.

  • The Wii is now in the Games Corner (the front room off the Library Lounge) and the sofa and bean bags are there to encourage some serious gaming sessions.

  • We also moved the tables in Frankston's Quiet Study area to create a more symmetrical arrangement. We have specialised equipment ordered for people with a disability and this will be set up here in the near future – we'll let you know when it goes live.
