Masterchef

Cook like a ratings winner

The MasterChef Australia website features plenty of this season's recipes, but that's just the tip of the crunchy granita.
.
Here's a taste of the Library's MasterChef Australia collection:

I'm sure there's more, but I'm hungry. Now, where did I leave my lactose free, sugar free chocolate?

Footy tipping round 17 round up

Ye of little faith
By our not surprised correspondent, Donny Watson

In the Blogalogue footy tipping competition, there was one team that everyone picked to win. And one team that everyone picked to lose. And there was one match that everyone got wrong.

Like a scene from the Dambusters, the Bombers bounced back!

Well done to SandyW who lead the pack with 6 winners in a tough round to pick.

Melbourne Writers Festival 2010 program

Program out now

The schedule of events for this year's Melbourne Writers Festival has been released and, as usual, it's chock full of literary delights.

In a program that goes on for 28 pages, the topics range from Burke and Wills to Williams S. Burroughs. Along with the predictable authors, journalists and academics, old foes like Bob Hawke and Malcolm Fraser will both be there (but unfortunately not together).

It's sure to be a gas.

Round 16 round up

"Do you work for Caroline Wilson?"
By Swans legend, Herbie
.
That's what our Bombers footy bear Donny Watson replied when I asked him how his tipping went over the weekend.
.
Round 16 started with an upset and the hits just kept coming. The best of the Blogalogue tipsters was Daveyj, who did the right thing, plumbed for the Swans and got 7, missing out only on the final thriller of the round on Sunday evening. An incredible 45% of our punters only picked 3 winners, with another 32% tipping just 4.
.
But if it was predictable all the time, it would be boring.

Taxing times

No eTax here
.
While we encourage you to use the Library's public computers for all and sundry of legitimate uses, we can't encourage you to do your eTax with us.
.
To get technical for a tick, eTax requires a direct link back to the ATO without the mediation of proxy servers. Because of our security set up, we cannot provide such a link.
.
Alternative taxing options include doing eTax on your own PC, doing it the old fashioned way in print and going to ATO shopfronts, which provide eTax access by appointment (call 13 28 61).

Round 15 footy roundup

TREMBLE
By our terrifying Tiger, Richie

We're back!

By now, you'd think that people would have noticed the Tiger ascendancy, but only 6 out of 31 Blogalogue tipsters picked us to beat the Dockers. One them was Alex, who proved her footy tipping prowess by picking all 8 winners.

Plenty of others got it wrong and only tipped 7 winners. One of them was Otis, who's still on top, with bluessgal (who did tip the Tiges) still in 2nd.

ROAR!

Footy tipping round 14

Where we ride the karma bus
With our vengeful correspondent, Briso The Lion

Swans bear Herbie recently had a dig at Brisbane for letting the Tigers win consecutive matches. I have just one word for Herbie: Snap!

Meanwhile, the ladder shows that Vicki tipped a perfect score of 8 in a round that also produced several 7s. Otis is still on top with bluesgal 2nd, while Mollyfud has sidled into 3rd on margin.

I can't wait until we play the Eagles (at the Gabba, at night).
