Footy tipping round 10

Plenty bombed out
By our smiling correspondent, Donny Watson
.
It was a round of upsets, but I wasn't. The Bombers have lots of runs and we've turned the corner. We left the Doggies with ackers all over their face! Ha, and who tipped that?
.
Louise in the Blogalogue footy comp might have. She picked 7 on a tough weekend for favourites, but bluesgal stayed on top of the ladder by 2 although she only picked 5.

Thanks to the magic of TV

Don't phone to book this gig

On last night's Spicks and Specks on ABC TV, Denise Scott mentioned that she was gigging at the Frankston Library "next week". As she played Frankston Library on 15 April, the program obviously exists in a teleland time warp.

You can see the reference in context on iview from about the 5minute 40 second mark. There's another mention at 9min 20.

Fouled up notices

We was wrong
Today, we sent out our overdue and reservation notices as usual. Only, instead of being for 25 May, 2010, they were for 2008. And then there were those sent without content.
.
If you have one of these errant messages, please ignore it. Tear it up and pop it into your recycling bin, or delete it from your email or mobile phone. It's no good.
.
We'll try to do better with Thursday's notices.
.
Sorry.

Round 9 round up

Peel me yellow! Top Cats again!
By our fruity correspondent, BananaCat

It’s magpies who usually swoop cats, but on Friday night, it was the Cats who swooped the Magpies in the 3rd quarter. We’re still the one to beat.

On the Blogalogue footy tipping ladder, we can see that bluesgal is just like my favourite team, on top! She was outscored, but has stretched her lead by two. .

Cheers,
BananaCat

Round 8 roundup

We're going well
By our leaping correspondent, Kanga

Did you know, that North Melbourne is only one win out the of top eight? And, if the one man team who's one man is out injured keeps losing, we're in with a chance to make it to the finals. Not bad for what Jack Dyer would call a good ordinary team.

A check of the Blogalogue footy tipping ladder shows bluesgal still on top, but only on margin, as library customer Otis B Driftwood has caught up with her on wins.

All the best,
Kanga

PS: Thanks to my agents, Patricia and Bill, for putting me on to this gig. If you have a footy mascot who wants to appear on a Blogalogue tipping round up, just email a photo and details to harps.

Library and information industry careers evening

Ever wondered what it would be like to work in a library?

If so, then you're invited to a free information evening at the State Library of Victoria on Tuesday 25 May 5.30 - 7pm.

Topics to be covered include:
  • Getting into the industry (there's more demand than you might think).

  • Qualifications and courses (TAFE or Uni).

  • Career opportunities (How far do you want to go? I know librarians who are managers of multi-million dollar operations, who've plied their trade around the world, written blogs, articles and books and gone on overseas study tours and in short become famous librarians like me. It's not that hard.)

For bookings email or call 03 8664 7099 and while you're at it download the flyer.

Footy tipping round 7 round up

You're only as good as...
By our shocked correspondent, Herbie

We were on top on the ladder and I was expecting a tight, tough match against the Cats at Skilled. It was going to be a thriller.

Yeah...

In the Blogalogue comp, bluesgal probably tipped Carlton's upset against the Saints to stay on top of the ladder. No eights this week, but there were four with seven wins.

New twist for Twitter lit

Tweet Addaline
What happens when 8 authors get together and collaborate on a novel… via Twitter?

Each contributing anonymously in bursts of 140 characters or less, the Off the Wall Writers' Group are creating a novel in Twitter. They started with no plot outline, theme or genre, just a title and opening line: Adeline died in my arms. I never should have lent them to her.

What follows is a terse sci-fi crime tale. You can see it unfold, divert and surprise at TweetAddaline.

Round 6 tipping round up

By our bulked-up correspondent, Richie
I'm looking forward to next week

Because we're playing Adelaide.

And I can't wait until the Saints force a nil all draw.

Meanwhile, in the Blogalogue footy comp, the ladder shows that 7 picked 7 winners in round 6. It looks like bluesgal is still the one to beat. Odd that 3 online librarians make up the top 3. Hope there's a please explain in the mail.
