Hotels are a popular theme in the Picture Frankston local history photo collection..
Generations of Frankstonians have partied, eaten and drowned their sorrows at our pub corner. Daveys, The Pier and the Grand Hotel have a heritage that dates back to the start of Frankston. Publicans, including Mark Young and William Davey, left their mark not only in terms of hotels, but street names too. Mark Young even became the Shire President.
All of the pubs have been re-built over the years and a few have undergone name changes. The long gone Prince of Wales Hotel (pictured) was where Daveys is now. Ironically, the Davey family owned the Bay View Hotel across the road, where the Grand Hotel is.
