I'll never tip Hawthorn again!
That's what SandyW, Scott and I are saying after being pipped from a perfect score by those has-beens. Sorry Jeff, we share your tremors of disappointment, but we're over the Hawks.

Customer feedback for May
Good call? Bad call?
Has the Library been making the right calls by you lately? According the May's customer feedback for Frankston, we've been getting mixed reactions, even on the otherwise hugely popular coffee cart. The more taciturn customers at Carrum Downs have left us less feedback to go on.

Celebrating Frankston's refurbishment
Ministerial launch
Local Government Minister, Richard Wynne, will officially launch the refurbishment of the Frankston Library on Tuesday, 14 July.
Council applied for a grant through the Living Libraries Program to complete the three-stage makeover which has improved access, and better serves library user needs. It has developed the facility into a community and learning hub.
The library now has vibrant new carpet and signage, more space and zones for groups to gather, areas for quiet study use, new external shades and as of this month, a new multi-purpose room for use by the community.
Here's some progress photos:
You are invited to attend this celebration.

Round 12 round up
The longest round
It may have been over two big weeks, but Round 12 looks like it was pretty easy, especially for library customer muddy60 who aced it with an 8. I guess those who picked 6 or 7 (which was most of us) lost out on the Brisbane and/or Richmond victories.

Bing
But what exactly is Bing?
Is it the noise a machine makes?
Or a crooning entertainer of old?
No!
It's Microsoft's latest move into the search engine market.
Bing (still in Beta) features a preview of the results
(just hold the mouse to the right of the results and wait a moment),
related searches, embedded video on your video results page and
some neat options on the image search, plus news search and maps.

Re-imagining images
Some interesting mash ups
Here's some re-imaging of history that I'd like to share.
The first is from Picture Australia and is part of a
competition and future online exhibition to Re-Picture Australia. Picture Australia have set up a selection of public domain photos for creative folk to download, mash-up and "reload with new meaning" into it's Re-Picture Australia Flickr group. The accompanying photo is called Bridge redux Part II by zebrafactory.com and features bits from several images.
Don't forget that we also have our local history photos available online via what we call Picture Frankston.
.
The second is a project by Littlepixel, who has turned
some classic album covers into paperback covers, or as the
artist says: "Classic records lost in time and format,
re-emerged as Pelican books." I note that The Beatles self-titled so-called White Album hasn't been featured.

Round 11 round up
Half way through
Looking at the ladders round by round, both the top and the bottom of the Blogalogue comp ladder have been remarkably stable, with Refgurl and wendy neck and neck at one end and Rav sticking to her policy of trying to pick the upsets firmly at the other.
Well done to MandyH for picking 8 this week: Carlton must have won!

Round 10 round up
There's many ways to pick a winner
Some people tip with their head. Others go with their gut or heart, even the feelings they have in their bones or "waters". Some folk pick on a whim or a well considered coin flip. You can tip to a system or research each match on its merits. Then there's who tip the long shots.
Looking at 10 weeks of tipping in the Blogalogue footy comp, what kind of tippers do you think are represented here? Do ladder leaders Refgurl and wendy make careful judgements? Does end of the ladder Rav go for the outside chances (seeking the coveted wooden spoon)? Participants and readers alike, please leave comments...
